We are unable to show Jeremy Deller and Nicholas Abrahams’ documentary film about Depeche Mode fans due to the band’s managers having not allowed further screenings. Instead, we will be showing new 16 mm films by another British artist, Luke Fowler, in the Great Hall at the Old Student House starting at 20:30 on Friday 26.3. Keeping to the theme of the IHME Days, Parts 1 and 2 have been chosen from his series A Grammar for Listening, which attempts to answer the question of how to create a meaningful dialogue between looking and listening. Part 1 has been made in collaboration with the British sound artist Lee Patterson, and Part 2 with the French composer Eric La Casa.
There is also a change to the lecture programme: John Richardson’s lecture scheduled for Saturday morning 27.3 has been cancelled. In his place will be journalist Matti Ripatti, who will talk about a theme related to Susan Philipsz’s IHME work: “Sound freed from the shackles of time and place”.
