Turner Prize won by IHME 2010 Contemporary Art Festival artist Susan Philipsz


The British Turner Prize for contemporary art has been won by the Scot Susan Philipsz. Philipsz made the main work for the IHME Contemporary Art Festival in March 2010. She designed a new sound installation, When Day Closes, for Helsinki Central Railway Station. In it she sang unaccompanied Sibelius´ Song of My Heart, which was composed as a setting for Aleksis Kivi´s poem of the same name.
