Susan Philipsz’s work will be opened in the fall

IHME Artist 2010 Susan Philipsz’s work Day is Done will be opened during fall 2013 in Governors Island, New York. It is the first permanent art commission for the former military site whose public spaces are being revamped. In 2010 Philipsz made the main work for the IHME Contemporary Art Festival, a new sound installation When Day Closes at Helsinki Central Railway Station. In it she sang unaccompanied Sibelius’s Song of My Heart, which was composed as a setting for Aleksis Kivi’s poem of the same name.

Susan Philipsz’s IHME Project 2010 will also be included in a publication which is carried out in collaboration with London-based ArtAngel among others and published before the end of the year.
