Benesse Holdings, Inc. has awarded the 10th Benesse Prize to Albanian artist Anri Sala, whose video installation “Ravel Ravel Unravel” was shown in the French Pavilion at the Venice Biennale’s Arsenale venue. The four-member jury included Senior Curator of Palais de Tokyo Akiko Miki, who was a guest speaker during IHME Days in 2012, curator Sheikha Hoor Al Qasimiand, curator Sunjung Kim, and Executive Director Paula Toppila from IHME Contemporary Art Festival. Anri Sala will create a new commission at Benesse Art Site Naoshima. The goal is to present it to public in 2016.

The Teshima island of Benesse Art Site Naoshima is also the location for the IHME 2012 Artist Christian Boltanski’s work “The Heart Archive”. In 2012 human heartbeats were recorded in Helsinki, Rovaniemi, Vaasa and Joensuu for the IHME Project 2012.
