Israeli artist Yael Bartana’s art film True Finn – Tosi suomalainen, which is this year’s commissioned art work for IHME Contemporary Art Festival in Helsinki, got its world premiere in Helsinki on March 31.  Entry to fhe film screening was free, and the event was attended by four hundred spectators. The film True Finn evoked spontaneous laughter and joy in the audience during the screening. After the premiere the audience gave versatile feedback on the film that was perceived as an important issue. Bartana’s IHME Project has also given rise to a great deal of online discussions and writings on the film before the premiere.

Yael Bartana’s film can be viewed worldwide on Yle Areena 31.3.-31.7.2014: http://areena.yle.fi/tv/2223439

Yael Bartana will discuss the IHME Project with curator Maria Lind and the audience on Saturday, April 5, at 14.15 at the Great Hall of the Old Student House. See the IHME Days programme here.
