Kone Foundation’s goal is to advance bold initiatives in research and the arts. It is an independent and unaffiliated organisation, which awards grants to promote academic research, culture, art and the popularisation of research, maintains the Saari Residence for artists and researchers and organises various events. Kone Foundation has supported IHME financially since 2015.


Saastamoinen Foundation has firmly anchored itself in Finnish society by promoting the work of actors in the fields of science and art, and by networking both in Finland and internationally. Saastamoinen Foundation is in collaboration with IHME Helsinki in 2020-22.

The 2020 IHME Helsinki Commission Jana Winderen’s Listening Through the Dead Zones and the IHME Helsinki Commission 2021 Katie Paterson’s To Burn, Forest, Fire are part of the Helsinki Biennial Inspired series. The title of the  Helsinki Bienniale is ‘The Same Sea’. Helsinki Biennial is an international visual arts event that brings outstanding contemporary art to maritime Helsinki every two years. The first Helsinki Biennial will be held in the unique surroundings of Vallisaari from 12 June to 26 September 2021.
